From Independence:

Take 21 north 5.7 miles to Rt. 611 – Big Ridge Road.  Turn left and follow (1.5 miles) to a fork where Rt. 611 becomes Pheasant Run Road. Bare left onto Rt.668 – Big Ridge Road and continue 2.1 miles to Rt. 764 – Sweetwater Road. Turn right ( this looks like you are turning into a private driveway BUT it is not.  185 Sweetwater Road is the first mailbox on the left. You have arrived at the Lassiter’s Mountain Refuge.

From Wytheville:

Take 21 south into Grayson County, VA.  From Wytheville to Elk Creek Convenience Store/ Gas Station is approximately 22 miles. Continue past the store on 21 south another 5.5 miles to Rt. 611 – Big Ridge Road. Turn right and follow (1.5 miles) to a fork where Rt. 611 becomes Pheasant Run Road. Bare left onto Rt.668 – Big Ridge Road and continue 2.1 miles to Rt. 764 – Sweetwater Road. Take 58 West to Independence 15.97 miles, turn right onto 21 North.
